As the summer approaches, it's time to say goodbye as the new committee take over responsibility for the Music Society. Their first major job is, of course, Freshers' Week 2010 and I'm sure they will have lots of exciting things planned. Look out for details on the website soon!

Starlight Ball

Plans have been finalised for the ball and tickets go on sale from tomorrow in the School of Music (£31 for members, £36 for all else). Visit the events page for all the details - it looks to be a fantastic night.
At the ball we will be announcing who you have voted as the next committee of the Music Society. If you are interested in a position, sign up on the Music Society notice board in the foyer. If you want to know how the committee functions or what is required in each role, speak to any of us this week. Voting will take place in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you don't miss out!
ANNUAL MUSIC BALL

It's that time of year again for the Annual Music Ball, held this year in the wonderful setting of Cardiff City Hall. The ball will be held on Wenesday 17th February starting around 7pm. There are lots more details coming in the next week or so and tickets will be on sale very soon - so look out for posters around the School of Music! We have an excellent theme planned, live music and there will be food included in the ticket price. Check the events page for all the details and the bands playing, being released very soon.

Hopefully everybody is well settled into the uni routine by now. Freshers' week was a fantastic success and a big thank you to everyone who took part. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
The first lunchtime concert of this year was brilliant and we hope you enjoyed it and got a feel for how things work. The sooner you sign up to perform and get your concert diary filled / performance reviews written - the better! There's always an influx of people at the end of term and priority has to go to third and second years. Just a reminder - concerts are every Thursday at 1:10pm and the sign up sheet usually appears on Monday. PLEASE come along and support your fellow students - nobody likes performing to an empty concert hall!
We're currently busy planning the Music Society Ball which will hopefully be happening in February. Remember, all members of the Music Society get £5 off the ticket price. (If you haven't yet signed up, go to http://groups.cardiffstudents.com and find "Cardiff Music Society".)
We're also planning a few upcoming socials, including an 80's themed night (get your neon leg warmers out!) and a Halloween social. Dates for your diary are Wednesday 21st and Saturday 31st October. See our Events page for more information.

Hopefully everybody who received A-level results on Thursday got what they wanted and congratulations to everybody coming to Cardiff in September. Hopefully you have already, or will very soon, received our Freshers' Pack with all the information you need to know about coming to Cardiff to study music.
